Sadie Roberts-Joseph, Founder Of African-American Museum, Found Dead In Car Trunk

Founder of the African American museum in Baton Rouge was found dead in the trunk of her car due to suffocation.

What We Know:

  • On July 12, an anonymous caller reported finding the body of 75 year old Sadie Roberts-Joseph at about 3:45 p.m. She was three miles away from her home.
  • Baton Rouge police said the cause of her death was traumatic asphyxia including suffocation. She did not die from strangulation but her nose and mouth were blocked.
  • Joseph founded Odell S. Willams African American Museum in 2001 and for years hosted the city’s Juneteenth festivities.
  • Joseph also founded Community Against Drugs and Violence, a non-profit organization focused on creating a safer environment for children in north Baton Rouge, according to CNN.com

Further details on Joseph body wounds will not be released until a toxicology report which takes up to three weeks.
