Get ready to celebrate Black excellence because there’s a lot to look forward to! Mo’Nique’s highly-anticipated Netflix special finally has a premiere date, while 2 Chainz and Ne-Yo join the cast of the hit TV series “BMF.” And if that wasn’t enough, Queen Latifah will be hosting the NAACP Image Awards. Everything inside…
Get ready to laugh out loud because the Queen of Comedy, Mo’Nique, is finally bringing her A-game to Netflix with her upcoming special, “My Name Is Mo’Nique.” After a long and hard-fought battle with the streaming platform, the 55-year-old entertainer is ready to make her mark.
In the recently released teaser, Mo’Nique teased viewers about why she chose the title for her program. “After seventy-two minutes y’all gonna know why…” she said with a sly grin. “This one right here is personal. When you walk away from this one, you’ll say, ‘Now we understand that woman.'”
For over three decades, Mo’Nique has been a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. Her hit show, “The Parkers,” catapulted her to stardom, and she’s been making audiences laugh ever since. But this special is different. “Before I was just focused on being funny,” she explained. “Now I feel like I have something to say.”
The clip also features supporters and celebrities praising Mo’Nique for being a legend and an amazing performer. Many have rallied behind her after she sued Netflix for allegedly “systematically underpaying” Black women, a lawsuit that was reportedly settled in 2017. Initially, Netflix offered Mo’Nique a measly $500,000 for a one-hour special that would give the streaming giant full control, including owning the copyrights and audio. When she pushed back, they walked away from negotiations.
But Mo’Nique is not one to be deterred. “This show right here really allows you to understand why I swing like I swing,” she said. “There are things that I’m going to say in this comedy special that I thought I would take to my grave, that they were mine. They were my thoughts. They were my secrets. It was just mine.”

Mark your calendars because “My Name Is Mo’Nique” is set to premiere this April. Don’t miss out on the hilarious and personal stories that only Mo’Nique can deliver.
