Jane Fonda Arrested While Protesting Climate Crisis in D.C.

While leading a climate change protest in Washington, D.C., two-time Oscar-winning actress, Jane Fonda was arrested.

What We Know:

  • CBS reported that Fonda, 81, and fellow protestors were participating in the actress’s weekly #FireDrillFridays event. This is a series created by the Monster-In-Law star that is held on Capitol Hill to “demand that action by our political leaders be taken to address the climate emergency we are in.”
  • WUSA reporter Mike Valerio recorded Fonda’s arrest while being on the scene. Protestors can be heard chanting loudly in the video, “What do we want? Climate Justice!” while watching Fonda get apprehended by Capitol Police.
  • On Fonda’s website, she explains how she decided to move to Washington, D.C., “to be closer to the epicenter of the fight for our climate. “She also expresses that she was motivated to join the movement by teen activist Greta Thunberg and Reverend Barber’s Moral Mondays.
  • Besides her #FireDrillFridays demonstrations, Fonda has plans to launch a live-stream panel featuring expert protestors every Thursday. “To ensure the topic and its connection to the climate crisis is thoroughly explained.”, she voiced.

Fight on Fonda! Hope her protests help open doors in reducing climate crisis!
