This is after several days of Trump’s criticism towards him, even calling him a “pompous fool.”
What We Know:
- British Ambassador Kim Darroch had his own comeback to Trump when over the weekend a collection of secret diplomatic cables were leaked to a British tabloid. In these memos, he described Trump as “insecure” and his administration as “inept” and “dysfunctional”.
- Despite the harsh retaliation from Trump, Prime Minister Theresa May stood by Darroch, stating that it was a “matter of great regret that he has felt it necessary to leave his position”.
-
“Good government depends on public servants being able to give full and frank advice,” she said, adding, “I hope the House will reflect on the importance of defending our values and principles, particularly when they are under pressure.”
- In his resignation letter, Darroch stated, “The current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like.”
- His position would’ve ended at the end of the year, but he decided to leave early due to the continuous drama with the Trump administration.
This is only going to increase tensions between the US and Britain.
