A new Netflix series is in development from Kenya Barris and 50 Cent based on the book, The 50th Law.
What We Know:
- New York Times Bestselling book The 50th Law, is a strategy self-help book by 50 Cent and Robert Greene. The book talks about the early life of Curtis Jackson, or as he is more commonly known 50 Cent. According to Deadline, the executive producers of Black-ish, Kenya Barris and Hale Rothstein are writing the script for the pilot of the series. Rothstein reportedly brought The 50th Law project to Barris’ attention.
- 50 Cent has a lot on his plate as the executive producer of the immensely popular Starz drama, Power. He also has four other greenlit spin-offs. Despite this, he joins Barris and Rothstein as executive producer for The 50th Law. Barris is also very busy with shows like Black-ish, Grown-ish, Mixed-ish, and newly added Old-ish. Barris’ #BlackAF was met with early backlash but it has been renewed for a second season.
- To add to the massive amount of content that this duo produces, Barris’ production company, Khalabo Ink Society also has feature films in development. The company aims to explore storytelling that speaks on different cultures and societal issues.
- Robert Greene, the co-writer of The 50th Law has written several best-selling books. These include The 48 Laws of Power, which sold over 1.2 million copies in the United States, The Art of Seduction, and The Laws of Human Nature.
The highly anticipated series does not yet have a release date.
