A manager of a Dunkin’ Donuts in North Philadelphia was shot and killed during a robbery Saturday morning.
What We Know:
- The robbery occurred before 5:30 a.m at the Dunkin’ located on the 500 block of West Lehigh Avenue in North Philadelphia’s Fairhill section. Authorities have identified the victim as 41-year-old Christine Lugo. Co-workers revealed to Eyewitness News that Lugo was a mother of two. They also say she had a “kind heart and smile.”
- The motive behind the shooting remains unclear as the case is still being investigated. Surveillance video shows Lugo handing the gunman cash, and he still shot her in the head. North Philadelphia police are now asking for local help to find the man they describe as “armed and dangerous.”
- Surveillance video shows the gunman walk into the store with a revolver handgun. It was there when he forced Lugo to lead him to a safe and supply closet with cash. After collecting the money, the gunman shot her in the head and fled the scene. Police are offering a $20k reward in the case.
- A memorial in her honor was started and continues to grow today. Dunkin’ has since released a statement regarding the incident. The chain stated they are “saddened to learn of the death of a restaurant manager.” They’ve also said that the “franchise owner is cooperating fully with the local authorities in their investigation.”
