Well-known Chicago rapper King Von was shot and killed outside a club in Atlanta early Friday morning. There were multiple involved in the shooting, some were injured.
What We Know:
- Dayvon Bennet, better known as King Von, was among three people who were killed early Friday morning around 3 am. Monaco Hookah Lounge, located at 255 W. Trinity Ave. SW, is where the incident occurred. Apparently, an altercation broke out and soon turned physical among two groups of males, which involved several guns.
- There were two off-duty police officers who were at the lounge. They were also involved in the shooting. “Three of the persons shot in the incident have died as a result of their wounds and three others are being treated in area hospitals,” the police said. “The officers were not injured.” It’s unclear if he was initially shot by someone else or if he was caught in the crossfire of the police’s gunfire.
- Last month, King Von released his album Welcome to O-Block, a nod to the area around 64th Street and King Drive on the South Side where he was raised. The album featured appearances from Moneybagg Yo, Polo G, and Lil Durk according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
- Von was 26-years-old and was a great friend to many people and a father. His best friend and producer, DJ on Da Beat confirmed his passing after he was in critical condition. “My heart can’t take this. No bro. Why you. Why bro. Please just FaceTime me bro. Why they had to take you. Ima see you again this s*** ain’t over. It’s far from over. We still just getting started. RIP my Bestfriend,” he wrote on Instagram.
