Payless is making a big comeback just in time for the back-to-school period with the launch of a brand-new website on Tuesday.
What We Know
- Payless CEO Jared Margolis said during a press release that they are back and bringing fashion-forward footwear, community responsibility, and on-trend partnerships to their 60M+ Payless customers who have missed the Payless chain. He continued to say they saw an opportunity for the brand to relaunch into the US market, providing the community with the always affordable, value-driven products they have always searched for, now across multiple categories, during these times when value couldn’t be more critical.
- The footwear retailer has shared a name change, dropping “Shoesource” from the official brand name. Yet, it still plans to offer the same, unparalleled commitment to providing value to their community.
- The move comes after Payless declared in January it was resurfacing from the second Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2019 that closed the remaining 2,100 locations in North America.
- Payless has also planned to open 300 to 500 free-standing stores across North America over the next five years, beginning with the first ideal store in Miami, Florida, near Payless’s headquarters. The retailer currently runs 700 stores internationally that were not affected by such bankruptcy, which includes 298 franchise locations, 412 Latin, and Central America spots.
- Payless new stores are going to have an updated design that “reinvents the way we shop,” including new digital components such as smart mirrors, touchscreen wall panels, and a “first-of-its-kind Augmented Reality foot comparison chart.”
Payless said it would offer the same apparel, accessories, and footwear as it once had. Consumers can now shop online for various labels, including Airwalk, American Eagle, K-Swiss, Kendall + Kylie, and Aerosoles.
