Disney CEO Bob Iger announced plans to reboot ‘Home Alone’ on Tuesday.
What We Know:
-
This reboot will be one of the many new projects Disney will feature on its upcoming Disney+ streaming service.
-
The original 1990 Christmas comedy follows Kevin McCallister, a young boy who spends the holidays defending his home from two burglars.
-
Many people were upset by the reboot announcement. Some took to social media to trash the idea:
How you gonna remake #HomeAlone when 2019 Kevin can just text his Mom or catch an Uber 🤔 pic.twitter.com/Y1QpLjeO3G

Disney wants to reboot #HomeAlone Nobody wants this. Want proof? There are 4 sequels to Home Alone that nobody cares about.
The first movie was perfect. No reboot or sequel will ever recapture the magic that was the orginal. pic.twitter.com/tvJMTiUJSl— sean brett (@BaconKnight) August 7, 2019

Macaulay Culkin, the original star, shared his own funny response to the news. He posted an unflattering photo of himself wearing a tight tank top, lounging on his couch and clutching a bowl of food with the caption, “This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like.”
- Iger also announced plans to reboot ‘Cheaper by the Dozen,’ ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ and ‘Night at the Museum.’
Do we really need this reboot?
