There’s plenty to do this year for Earth Day. Mother Earth shares her warm sunshine, good soil, clean air, and water to keep us all living and breathing. It’s only fitting that she is celebrated through festivals each Spring. 

Earth Day is showing up and showing out this year. Many travelers are still reacquainting themselves with the outside after being indoors following the COVID-19 pandemic. Earth Day festivals, clean-up sessions, and farmer’s markets are popping up all over the country throughout April. 

Before the month ends, head outside for some fresh air and good vibes while celebrating the Earth.

No matter what you’re into, there’s an Earth Day fest that’s sure to cater to your interests. Stop by one of these festivals and events to spend some time with Mother Nature this Earth Day. 

Seattle: Black Earth Day

Seattle is doing Earth Day the right way with Black Earth Day happening on April 22nd. Presented by the Black Farmers Collective, Black Earth Day is a celebration of Mother Nature that educates the community on environmental sustainability.

Although this is only the second year for the celebration, Black Earth Day is making a major impact on the city of Seattle. 

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with numerous activities happening throughout the day for the entire family. There will be plenty to do for the little ones with kid meditation, storytime, and arts & crafts. Visitors can enjoy free food and drinks from aspiring chef Liza Thomas and Sunflower Alley. 

Pair that with the best music, a herbalism workshop, and tons of resources sharing information on Environmental Justice & health, and visitors are in for a treat.

St. Louis: Urban Harvest STL

St. Louis is becoming more progressive and Earth Day is no exception. The Midwest city’s Earth Day Festival was founded in 2002 and is considered one of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the country.

Outside of the festival, the hosting nonprofit, earthday365,  reaches over one million people every year through its recycling program and Green Dining Alliance. 

A free shuttle service will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to transport visitors to the festival grounds during the two-day festival. Once there, guests have a variety of options for entertainment, education, and fun including herbology classes, DIY composting, yoga classes, and more. 

The festival has visitors covered on food with various vendors from the Green Dining Alliance and plenty of live music.

The event takes place on April 22-23.

Atlanta: PlantLUCK! A Plant Potluck & Swap

This Earth Day, Atlanta is calling all the plant parents to the forefront. PlantLUCK is a plant potluck and exchange happening on April 22. Visitors will be able to buy and trade plants from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Nourish Botanica and get all the earthy, green vibes ATL has to offer. 

In addition to buying fully grown plants, there will also be seedlings, sprouts, and gardening tools available from a variety of vendors.

Need a little grounding? Mama Yogi will be there to conduct guided meditations surrounded by lush plants and greenery.

If you plan on heading to PlantLuck, be sure to use the restrooms before arriving because there will be none available at the market.

Philadelphia: The ROOTS Art Show

A celebration of Afrocentric Earth Day, The ROOTS Art Show will be held at The Fairmount Horticulture Center. This is the first year of the art show as artists from all over Philly come together to showcase art merging with nature. 

This event is semi-formal and it is suggested that guests wear earth tones in coordination with the show’s theme. Admission is $30 which includes foods celebrating the African diaspora and an open bar from 3 p.m to 4 p.m.

New York City: Vegan Earth Day March

Folks in NYC are hitting the streets on Earth Day to spread awareness about non-violent, food sustainability. The Vegan Earth Day March is happening on April 22.

This family-friendly march aims to start more conversations about veganism and the benefits of living a plant-based life. The march begins at noon. 

Los Angeles: Earth Day Neighborhood Clean Up

There’s no better deed to Mother Earth than making sure she’s clean and healthy. Los Angeles is fulfilling that deed on Earth Day with a neighborhood clean-up.

The meet-up will happen on the corner of Soto Street and Washington Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22. 

This is the 35th year for this community clean-up hosted by First Blocks Of Whittier Boulevard.
