Tory Lanez Challenges Guilty Verdict: Appeals Conviction In Shooting Case That Involves Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez has filed an appeal after being found guilty on all charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Details inside…

Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper who was found guilty by a Los Angeles jury of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during an altercation in July 2020, has now requested a new trial, almost two months after the verdict.

The Canadian native, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted on all three charges against him – assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. His sentencing hearing is set for April 10th, and he could face up to 22 years and eight months in state prison.

Tory’s lawyer, Jose Baez, claimed that prosecutors hurt his client’s case by showing a photo of the artist’s chest, which revealed a tattoo of a firearm, implying that he likes weapons. Tory’s lawyer also pointed out a lengthy interview between prosecutors and Kelsey Harris, Megan’s former friend who was in the car when she was shot. During the interview, Kelsey recanted many of the statements she made, which Jose claims should not have been presented in court.

The defense team also alleged that the prosecutors “painted defendant as a gun-wielding career criminal” and revealed their true motive when showing the shirtless photo of Tory.

They further claimed that Tory’s right to testify was “impermissibly chilled” when prosecutors warned they would bring up his lyrics and video for “Cap” if he took the stand. It’s reported, Tory is also making changes to his legal representation due to a scheduling conflict.

Megan Thee Stallion delivered an emotional testimony during the trial, saying that she was finding it difficult to open up. She said that she did not want to give the defendants the power that they had taken from her for the last three months. Tory Lanez is challenging his conviction on the grounds that prosecutors presented misleading evidence and made him out to be a violent person, depriving him of his due process. He is hoping to be granted a new trial. Prosecutors will likely respond to the appeal before his sentencing.

Continuing her comeback tour, Megan Thee Stallion slayed the fashion game once again at The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo’s Power Stylists dinner on Tuesday night.

The star-studded event was in celebration of Law Roach, the iconic stylist, who made the publication’s list of the 25 best celebrity stylists. The “WAP” raptress sported a stunning gold vintage 1997 Paco Rabanne outfit, originally worn by Yasmeen Ghauri, curated by Roach himself.

The stylist revealed at the event that the outfit was remade months ago by the house’s Julien Dossena, and Meg added her unique flair with her natural, voluminous curls, sleek cat-eye makeup, and long, golden nails.

Speaking of her fashionable friend, Megan gushed, “What can I say about Law? He’s the best. Like, I’m so upset that he’s going away right now because I need him. The world needs him.”

Despite Law’s retirement announcement on Instagram just a week before the event, Megan plans to continue their close relationship. “We don’t have a business relationship. It’s more like family. I’m still going to bother him, and he’s not going to stop being my family. He’s just not going to be in my closet.” Although Law’s departure from personal styling is a loss for the industry, Megan’s stunning outfit is a testament to his incredible eye for fashion.
