Earlier this week, police made an unsettling discovery at a home in Los Angeles, California.
What We Know:
- According to the New York Post, Maurice Taylor Sr. (34) was arrested under the suspicion of killing two of his children. The victims, ages 13 and 12, were found decapitated in their home early Friday morning. Two other children were also found inside the home -both alive and unharmed. According to the L.A. Times, they were taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.
- The bodies were discovered by L.A. county firefighters who were responding to a report of a possible gas leak in the home after Taylor missed multiple scheduled Zoom exercise meetings. A client had phoned in their concern, noting that Taylor had never missed a scheduled appointment. Knowing the family had no money to travel, the client feared the family might’ve suffered carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Taylor was a personal trainer working from home during the coronavirus pandemic. Like most people, the family was struggling to make ends meet, which police believe may have contributed to the grisly crime.
- After hearing the news, a client described Taylor saying: “Think of the nicest person that you know, then multiply that by five. He worked so hard to support himself. Unfortunately, we don’t know enough to say what happened or what didn’t happen.”
As of now, it is unclear how long the children had been dead. Taylor is currently being held on a $2 million bail.
