White House Tells Feds to Prepare Trump’s February Budget Through 2022

In a new attempt to reject the 2020 election results, Trump’s White House staff has continued to plan the federal spending budget through the year 2022. This comes as a bizzare disconnect in sight of president-elect Joe Biden’s inaguration on January 20th, 2021.

What We Know:

  • The president continues to refuse a peaceful transition of power, firing multiple government officials, claiming a false vistory, accusations of voter fraud, and choosing not to cooperate with Biden’s transitioning staff. The continuous planning of the budget signifies the Trump administration’s complete disregard for the fact that Donald Trump was not re-elected.
  • Typically, the White House releases its annual budget proposal in February. The budget lays out the administration’s main priorities for the coming fiscal year to be submitted to Congress. This will be created and implemented by the Biden administration after inaguration, despite the planning that Trump has had his staff prepare.
  • The budget being proposed is for spending through the dates of October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.
  • An unnamed source told the Washington Post, “They’re pretending nothing happened. We’re all supposed to pretend this is normal, and do all this work, while we know we’re just going to have to throw it away.”
  • Alexandra Weinroth, communications director for House Budget Committee commented, “If President Trump wants to waste time and resources on a budget that will never see the light of day, that’s his decision. But we look forward to receiving the budget of our 46th President, Joe Biden, in February.“

Republicans are still debating the legality of the 2020 election. On Monday, Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, showed his support for Trump’s attempt to legally challenge the election results and refused to acknowledge Biden the winner of the presidential election.
