E! News is Cancelled After 29 Years On Air Due to Covid-19

After 29 years, E! News has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What We Know:

  • NBCUniversal, which is their parent company, announced the news Tuesday. E! News has been in the works since 1991. E! delivered the news on celebrity scandals, engagements, divorces, and more. They have hosted red carpet events and parties in the past.
  • E! has delivered entertainment news for nearly three decades, the cancellation is shocking to many. The show was hosted by Lilliana Vazquez and Scott Tweedie, and it was responsible for giving a platform to many outstanding entertainment journalists. Another show that has been canceled is “Pop of the Morning” and “In the Room,” a celebrity interview series hosted by Jason Kennedy.
  • E! gave many known Black entertainment journalists a platform, including Alisha Davis, Michael Yo, Terrence J., Alicia Quarles, Zuri Hall, and Nina Parker. Once Hollywood is back in running, E! will return to make their debut, but as of today, fans are in shock.

E! ‘s decision came from their financial fall out due to the pandemic and shared plans to restructure its programming with a new direction to “focus on streaming and away from traditional television.”
