Peter Buttigieg, Beto O’Rourke and Amy Klobuchar quit the presidential race and endorsed Joe Biden on the eve of Super Tuesday to try to boost him against Bernie Sanders.

- In a last minute bid to unite the moderate wing of the Democratic Party, Senator Amy Klobuchar and Peter Buttigieg on Monday threw their support behind a presidential campaign rival, Biden, giving him a boost ahead of the Super Tuesday primaries against liberal front-runner, Senator Bernie Sanders.
- According to a report, “Before withdrawing from the 2020 presidential race, Pete Buttigieg discussed it with former President Barack Obama who advised him to use the leverage he amassed during the campaign.”
- Obama didn’t specifically encourage Buttigieg to endorse Joe Biden, his vice president, but pointed out that he should be mindful of the significant influence he now wields, advised NYTimes.
- Klobuchar, who obtained the same moderate voters as Biden and Buttigieg, withdrew from the race Monday and told associates she wanted to use her leverage to help Biden win this campaign. She believed this could “bring our country together” and restore “decency and dignity” to the presidency.
- O’Rourke helped push the debate of gun control, following a mass shooting in El Paso in August but his campaign stalled. Facing extreme financial strain, he dropped out of the primary last fall. On Monday, he also endorsed Joe Biden.
On Monday, Bernie Sanders signed that he was ready for a fight against Biden, and perhaps a long one. We shall see.
