Colorado radio host Chuck Bonniwell suggested live on air that a school shooting would be a great distraction from President Trump’s impeachment.
What We Know:
- The Chuck and Julie Show returned from a commercial break when Bonniwell laughingly stated “You know, you wish for a nice school shooting to interrupt the nonstop impeachment coverage,” according to the Washington Post.
- Immediately after his comments, Julie Hayden attempted to interrupt him by saying ” no, no, dont even…don’t say that. No don’t even say that. Don’t call us, Chuck didn’t say that.” Bonniwell tried to backtrack his statements, but the damage was already done.
- In a released statement given by station, they affirmed that the station does not condone the statement made by Bonniwell in anyway. “Given the history of school violence that has plagued our community, 710 KNUS confirms that an inappropriate comment was made on the ‘Chuck & Julie’ show by co-host Chuck Bonniwell. A programming decision was made to end the program immediately.”
- The show was immediately cancelled by radio station 710 KNUS the same day. Bonniwell released an apology in a now deleted tweet.
The Chuck & Julie Show has now been replaced by former White House aide Sebastian Gorka’s America First.
