Half A Million Pork Products Recalled

Posted on December 1, 2019December 5, 2019 by Jessica D. Bullock, DI

A meat packing company has recalled more than half a million pounds of pork product.

What We Know:

  • Federal officials said they received an anonymous tip that Morris Meat Packing, based out of Maywood, Illinois, was producing products without inspection, outside inspection hours. This is what lead to the recall.
  • The raw pork products were produced between November 25, 2017 to November 9 of this year. Some of the items included on the list are pork chops, neck bones, spare ribs, and bacon.
  • The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 18267” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distributors and retail locations in Illinois.
  • The USDA classified the announcement as a “Class I” recall, which is considered a high health risk, This is a “situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death”.

There have been “no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products,” advised the USDA said.
