Many hacked accounts are being offered on the dark web for free or between $3-11.
What We Know:
- The Disney+ platform launched on November 12. After the launch, many issues were apparent including users being unable to login to watch their favorite movies or shows. It seems hackers were accessing people’s accounts, logging them out of all devices, and then changing the account’s email and password, according to the BBC.
- Hacked accounts were distributed through the dark web, some accounts were sold for only $3. These sites showed what kind of subscription the person signed up with and when it expires. Customers also saw their passwords and emails changed.

- The company avoided answering any 1 on 1 customer questions about the safety of their accounts. A spokesperson did state that “Disney takes the privacy and security of our users’ data very seriously and there is no indication of a security breach on Disney+”.
- Disney did go on to apologize in a tweet about the lack of customer support and that they’ve received an overwhelming amount of tweets.
Ten million people signed up in its first week, so who knows how many people were affected by this.
