The stairs, which are a part of Gotham City in the Joker movie, have now become a tourist spot for fans of the movie.
What We Know:
- In the movie, Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck celebrates his turning point as a villain with a wild dance sequence on the steps set to Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll Part 2”. The stairs used to film the dance scene are located off Shakespeare Avenue in the Bronx, New York.
- Several fans have documented their experience at the Joker stairs. The stairs even have their own location on Instagram. People can be seen on social media mimicking the moves of Fleck in the film.
- Some tourists showed up to the stairs only for a quick picture and others came dressed in full Joker costumes to record the scene themselves.
- Residents in the Bronx are not enjoying the inconvenience of the tourists. Many members of the community feel it is disrespectful to treat their community and residents as a photo opportunity and that the movie enthusiasts have added an inconvenience for those trying to get to work or school.
Joker has grossed a massive global total of $737.5 million after three weekends.
