Bernie Sanders Postpones Campaign Events Indefinitely due to Heart Problems

Senator Bernie Sanders postponed all campaign events following a procedure for a blocked artery.

  • Bernie Sanders had surgery for a blocked artery in Las Vegas. His team says that he was traveling to a gun forum in Las Vegas before his scheduled visit to California later on in the week. 
  • The 2020 candidate canceled all events and appearances until further notice. According to Jeff Weaver, a senior advisor for Sanders he is “conversing and in good spirits.” He will be resting for the next few days, and his campaign plans to provide updates about his health.
  • Weaver released a statement saying, “During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation, he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted.”
  • Sanders’ campaign recently planned to launch a $1.3 million advertising push, but it has been postponed due to Sanders’ recent health problems. Many fellow candidates wished him well-wishes on Twitter including Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Andrew Yang, Joe Biden.
