Renowned animator Richard Williams, known for his work in Pink Panther and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, passed away.
What We Know:
- Richard Williams was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to Britain in the 1950s. He began to fully dive into animation at the age of 23.
- During his career, he won three Oscars as well as three Bafta awards.
- He was also known for his work on the title sequences of Pink Panther and Pink Panther Strikes Again.
- He was also the animation director for the acclaimed movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit which won him one of his Bafta awards and two Oscar awards. In the 1988 blockbuster movie, he created both the characters for Jessica Rabbit and Roger Rabbit.
- Williams won an Oscar for his very first film released in 1958 called The Little Island and a Bafta for his animated adaptation released in 1971 of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.
- During his successful career, he also published a book which was a how-to book entitled The Animator’s Survival Kit.
His memory lives on in the hearts of all who have seen his work and will continue to have an influence on the animation industry today.
