President Donald Trump has recently expressed interest in making his next big purchase.
What We Know:
- This past Thursday, some unexpected news came from the Wall Street Journal when they reported that Trump is thinking of purchasing the country Greenland.
- Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, is the world’s largest island. Greenland is located in the North Atlantic and is considered a strategic destination as the country is currently experiencing melting ice leading to new shipping routes.
- This may not have been the first time the United States has had its eye on Greenland. In 1946, it was rumored that Harry Truman offered to trade Alaska and $100 million for the territory.
- Despite Trump’s interest in the country, Greenland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs account tweeted a response on Friday morning.
#Greenland is rich in valuable resources such as minerals, the purest water and ice, fish stocks, seafood, renewable energy and is a new frontier for adventure tourism. We’re open for business, not for sale❄️🗻🐳🦐🇬🇱 learn more about Greenland on: https://t.co/WulOi3beIC

Despite Trump’s efforts to make this big purchase, it looks like it won’t happen. Who knows what he will try to purchase next.
