Albert Reimann Sr. and Albert Reimann Jr were a part of a successful German investment company. Their company also supported Hitler.

What We Know:

• JAB Holding (families company) began in the 1820s and today supports Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Panera Bread, Pret a Manger, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Keurig Green Mountain, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, and Caribou Coffee Co. These investments totaled to more than $40 billion.
• During World War Two, French prisoners of war and Russian civilians were put inside Reinman’s factories which were put there by the Germans. These findings were uncovered by the Allies according to NBC News.
• Senior and Junior Reimann both have passed away as of 1954 and 1984, respectively. These men both were avid supporters of the SS forces from the start of Hitler’s reign of terror. They even once complained to the mayor of Ludwigshafen that their slave workers weren’t doing enough.
• The amount of workers they used from the Russians and French is vague, but they estimate that about 30 percent of the people in the factory were prisoners of war. This was about 175 workers who helped to work the Nazi military industry.
• Many companies such as Volkswagen have white supremacist past but have sought to acknowledge their wrongs by conducting their own investigations.
• Peter Harf a representative of the family said “It’s all correct…we were ashamed,” and “These crimes are disgusting.” The family is looking to make a clean slate by publishing a book about a paid research investigation to see how close their family was to the Nazis, they also will be donating about $11.3 million to an undecided charity as of right now.

The family’s estimated wealth is $37 billion. Harf ends by saying “We want to do more and donate ten million euros to a suitable organization.”
