A man has been arrested after allegedly killing four people and injuring two others in a stabbing and robbery spree across part of Orange County, California, according to Time.
What We Know:
- Thirty-three year old Zachary Castaneda is a resident of Garden Grove who used multiple knives or machetes in the attacks of innocent people.
- Castaneda attacked his victims in the city of Garden Grove, a Santa Ana apartment complex, an insurance business, a Chevron gas station, a 7-Eleven and a Subway restaurant, according to police.
- His first attack began around 4pm when the suspect allegedly robbed an apartment in the same complex where he lives. Castaneda stabbed two men, one on a balcony and one inside an apartment.
- Between 5:39-6:09pm, Castaneda robbed a check-cashing business, an insurance agency and a local Chevron station, killing a total of 4 people.
- At 6:30pm, Orange County Police tracked down Castaneda as undercover officers found his vehicle, a silver Mercedes at a 7-Eleven parking lot.
- Police stated “We know that this guy was a gang member who is full of anger and he harmed a lot of people tonight. His motive may have been random and just pure hate but we believe the movie behind it all this was robbery,” according to Time.
- Police also learned during their investigation that a fourth homicide occurred by Castaneda took place inside a nearby Subway restaurant. The investigation is still ongoing.
He is booked into Orange County jail on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and burglary and being held on a $1 million bond.
