Wisconsin assistant coach Howard Moore went into cardiac arrest during an ambulance ride to the hospital last Monday.
What We Know:
- This is a setback for the coach, who just lost his wife and daughter in a fatal car accident May 25.
- The crash occurred near Ann Arbor, Mich., in which a wrong-way driver struck his family’s vehicle head on. While Moore suffered third-degree injuries and his son had minor injuries, his wife, daughter, and the other driver, unfortunately, passed away.
- Moore spent two weeks at the University of Michigan Hospital before being released to recover at home, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
- He is a force in the community, with him hosting a Chicago basketball tournament and camp called “Legends Taking Back the Streets” each summer in hopes of raising awareness about gun violence and providing an alternative outlet for youth.
- He will not be returning to the position for the 2019-2020 season, with the family putting out a statement saying “The Moore Family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support from the greater Madison and Chicago communities, the Badgers and Big Ten families and all whose lives Howard and his family have touched. Please continue to keep Howard and his son, Jerell, in your prayers.”
Hoping that the family finds the healing that they need.
