After being suspended with pay since February, AJ Calloway has officially been released from his job as host on Extra.
What We Know:
- In June 2018, The Hollywood Reporter published a story about author Sil Lai Abrams’ allegations against Calloway. According to Abrams, the incident happened in 2006. She even wrote about it in her 2007 book, No More Drama. Abrams referred to Calloway as a “well spoken B-list celebrity” in the book.
- Calloway was arrested earlier this year but the charges were later dropped. After being with the company for 14 years, Warner Bros. Television decided to suspend Calloway with pay in February while he dealt with the allegations. In addition to his position on Extra, Calloway is well known as a former host on BET’s 106 & Park.
- Abrams wasn’t the only one to speak out against Calloway. More accusers came forward in a story published by The Daily Beast earlier this year. This included three additional rape allegations that had police reports filed in New York, New Jersey, and California. The allegations date back to 2003 up to 2013.
- A Warners Bros. representative released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter in regards to Calloway’s termination. “The company has investigated the claims made into Mr. Calloway’s conduct and he and the company have mutually agreed to part ways”.
- Abrams expressed her excitement on Twitter:

AJ Calloway and his lawyer have declined to comment on the allegations nor the termination.
