Arsenio Hall has confirmed that he will reprise the role of ‘Semmi’ in the Coming to America sequel.
What We Know:
- Hall co-starred in the original 1988 Coming to America film alongside Eddie Murphy, Shari Headley and James Earl Jones. He played the role of Prince Akeem’s sidekick. The original film told the story of a spoiled African Prince (Murphy) traveling to New York in search of a wife.
- Eddie Murphy has also confirmed that he will appear in the sequel.

Deadline reported the sequel’s plot: “Prince Akeem learns about a long-lost son, and must return to America to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.”
- Craig Brewer will direct the sequel and Kenya Barris is executive producing.

The film is scheduled for release in early August 2020.
