A Morgan State University student was found dead in his car early Thursday morning.
What We Know:
- Manuel Luis, a sophomore and business student, was one of four people shot overnight, according to the Baltimore Sun. Police spokeswoman Detective Chakia Fennoy stated Luis was killed in a robbery. and found shot in the upper body around 4:50 a.m. in the 4700 block of Loch Raven Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Morgan State officials said his death was a tragedy for the school that lost another student due to violence earlier in the year. In April, Kevin Dix, a member of the university choir was fatally shot after leaving a friend’s home.
- MSU student Shree Realer told CBS she recalled hearing the gunshots. “It happened at 2:22 a.m., actually, because I remember looking at the clock right after it happened. It was like one gunshot and then you heard four more straight afterwards,” Realer said. Counselors were available on campus Thursday in the University Counseling Center.
- “As a community, the Morgan family collectively extends our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to the Luis family,” university officials said in a statement about his death. ” We ask that you keep them and their extended family and friends in prayer. In moments of despair, we come together and reaffirm our familial ties and bonds as Morganites.”

Manuel Luis….I promise you will NEVER be forgotten. The way you went is going to hurt me and so many. In 8 months you impacted plenty. Sucks that this is what it took for Morgan to wake tf up about security. My Morgan family we gotta do something to honor him. He was too pure. pic.twitter.com/HEPKMHo4vE
