T.I Joins Task Force To Repurpose Atlanta City Jail

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Rapper T.I will join forces to help the Atlanta City Detention Center serve for wellness and healing.

What We Know:

  • In May, Keisha Bottoms signed legislation to close the jail due to increased operating costs and a decreased amount of inmates, according to atlantablackstar.
  • The 25 person task force, including T.I and Love and HipHop star Scrapp Deleon, will be focusing on working together to promote strong leadership and helping to create a safer city.
  • In a press release Bottoms stated, “It is my hope this building will serve as an epicenter for resources, education and training for the community.”
  • “Earlier this year T.I. was honored at Georgia State Capitol for his nonprofits for assisting low-income families, following the Atlanta rapper bailing out 23 nonviolent and first time accused offenders” Atlantablackstar reported.

The new and improved detention center will become a brand new chapter for the city of Atlanta in assisting detained inmates to change their lives for the better.
