Mattel has debuted a black Barbie doll in a wheelchair — and the Internet is losing it.
What We Know:
- Complete with acid wash jeans, a striped cut-out shoulder top, and her natural hair (!!!), she is serving a LOOK. The doll is on sale for $19.99 at the nearest Target.
- The doll was first announced in February 2019 at the New York Toy Fair as part of the Fashionistas line.
- This is just another example of Barbie trying to be more inclusive in their products and have a doll that represents every person in the world. This is the first time a Black Barbie in a wheelchair has made its way to the market.
- Social media is shouting nothing but praises over this decision:
A Black, visibly disabled Barbie, with natural hair!?
AND HER WHEELCHAIR ISNT A UGLY HOSPITAL CHAIR!
We love representation! https://t.co/Cp7Z3Qal7d
