Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested on Tuesday night, after performing at the Smash X festival in Sweden, for suspected “gross assault” with an unknown person on Sunday.
What We Know:
- A video of the incident shows two men confronting Rocky and his entourage. When his security guard asked the men to leave, one of the men hits the bodyguard with a pair of headphones ultimately breaking them. The argument escalated after the men accused Rocky of breaking their headphones. The two men reportedly kept following Rocky and threatening to call the cops.
- Rocky took to Instagram to explain what happened. The video he posted shows the beginning of the altercation. After Rocky repeatedly tells the men to leave, he is seen throwing one of the men on the ground and his entourage jumping in while the other man in question ran off.
- “So a few drug addicts are not my fans,” the rapper captioned the video. “We don’t know these guys and we didn’t want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls butts who passed, give me a break.” A source told TMZ, that this is what prompted Rocky to start attacking the man.
- Rocky and his team left the scene before police and ambulance arrived. The Swedish Prosecution Authority said in a statement that all four were detained because they could leave the country and avoid prosecution.
Under Swedish law, Rocky alongside his friends can be held for up to three days before they have to appear before a judge to face formal charges.
