Florida Man tried to poison ex-girlfriend with Lysol

A Florida man was arrested in Volusia County after allegedly poising his ex-girlfriend with Lysol and bleaching her clothes, DeLand Police Department said.

  • Richard Lewis was arrested Wednesday afternoon after having a disputed with his ex-girlfriend Tiera Cotton. Lewis admitted to police he was frustrated with Cotton and attempted to poison her by putting Lysol in her pickle juice.
  • According to the police report, the victim told officers that her ex came over uninvited. Lewis later forced himself into the home by smashing a window to unlock the door. He claimed he went to his ex’s place to gather some of his belongings.
  • The situation escalated when the two started arguing about their breakup. Lewis told the police, his former girlfriend began throwing a kitchen knife and some wine bottles his way. Cotton then ran to a neighbor’s house to call the police.
  • Cotton claimed Lewis also stole her computer, WKMG-TV reported. Later, the woman asked her mother to check if Lewis was still at the home. The 25-year-old claimed he was waiting for the rain to stop. Cotton said she then received a threatening message from her ex that read, “You’re lucky your mom was there to save your life.”

Lewis was arrested and charged with domestic violence battery, criminal mischief and poisoning a person’s food with intent to injure them. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.
