Bottled Water Sold at Target, Walmart Tainted with Arsenic

Peñafiel water bottles contain high toxic levels of arsenic that are above the legal limit.

What We Know:

  • “California nonprofit Center for Environmental health has revealed that water bottle brand Peñafiel, owned by Whole Foods, Keurig, Dr. Pepper and Starkey contains high levels of toxic arsenic”, Nypost said.
  • When buying water bottles, customers assume the water is better and purified but in the case of Peñafiel, they will be drinking toxic water that can lead to birth defects and cancer.
  • The symptoms of arsenic poisoning are stomach pain and nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, numbness and even paralysis or blindness.
  • Peñafiel stopped operations for two weeks, with decisions on how to improve its water quality, but has since continued to sell its bottles.
  • “The Food and Drug Administration has not ordered a recall on the brand”,  Nypost said.

Peñafiel water is still being sold at Target, Walmart, and other retailers.
