Gunman Shot Dead Outside Dallas Federal Courthouse

Former Army infantryman Brian Isaack Clyde, was fatally shot by police after opening fire at the Earle Cabell Federal Building on Monday morning.

What We Know…

  • The 22-year-old was wearing tactical gear while carrying a military-style rifle and 150 rounds of ammunition. FBI had not investigated Clyde before the shooting, however a thorough investigation is now underway. His motivation for targeting the federal building remains unknown.

  • According to Dallas police, a bomb squad was inspecting the suspect’s vehicle, and later conducted a controlled explosion of it. People were advised to avoid the area.
  • A day before the attempted shooting, Clyde posted a picture of a sword, saying that he was a “gladius” about to “defend the modern Republic.” His Facebook page features memes from 4chan, conspiracy theories about the U.S. government, and warnings of an upcoming attack.
