Former Army infantryman Brian Isaack Clyde, was fatally shot by police after opening fire at the Earle Cabell Federal Building on Monday morning.
What We Know…
- The 22-year-old was wearing tactical gear while carrying a military-style rifle and 150 rounds of ammunition. FBI had not investigated Clyde before the shooting, however a thorough investigation is now underway. His motivation for targeting the federal building remains unknown.
- Matt DeSarno, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas Field Office, said that Clyde was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
- According to Dallas police, a bomb squad was inspecting the suspect’s vehicle, and later conducted a controlled explosion of it. People were advised to avoid the area.
- A day before the attempted shooting, Clyde posted a picture of a sword, saying that he was a “gladius” about to “defend the modern Republic.” His Facebook page features memes from 4chan, conspiracy theories about the U.S. government, and warnings of an upcoming attack.
