While campaigning in New Hampshire, Senator Kamala Harris spoke out about the Biden-Harris ticket rumors.
What We Know:
- Harris is one of 22 people that have announced that they are joining the 2020 Presidential Race. One of those candidates is former vice-president Joe Biden.
- Biden announced his candidacy in April of 2019. Due to his relationship with former President Obama, Biden was instantly a favorite amongst the candidates. The latest poll by CNN shows that Biden is leading the field with 39% of Democrats in favor of him. He is currently the top nominee choice. Harris is only showing a 5% in comparison to Biden.
- After review of the nominees, the Congressional Black Caucus has had conversations about the ideal team to defeat Trump in the 2020 election. The ideal is that Biden and Harris would be the best idea. “If [Harris] is not the nominee, that would be a dream ticket for this country,” said Rep Lacy Clay (D-MO). Harris and her fellow presidential candidate Senator Cory Booker are both members of the CBC.
- Harris had a positive response to the rumors. “If people want to speculate about running mates, I encourage that, because I think that Joe Biden would be a great running mate.”
The CBC believe that Harris represents everything that Biden isn’t and that that would be ideal to boost the black voter turnout.
