“Star” Cancelled after Three Seasons

Musical drama “Star” has been canceled by Fox after its first three seasons, but is being shopped around to other platforms by 20th Century Fox TV.

What We Know…

  • Fox also canceled their shows “Lethal Weapon” and “The Passage” this year to make space for the four new drama series the network picked up earlier this month. These new developments were chosen amongst six competitive drama pilots and a fifth is still pending for pick up by the network.
  • The worlds of “Star” and Fox’s show “Empire” shared immense crossover as they are set in the same fictionary television world, and Fox has also canceled “Empire” after its sixth season.
  • “Star’s” cancellation is linked to “Empire’s” as Fox explained its cancellation is necessary to give “Empire” the send-off it deserves. That being said, “Star” will not end for good as 20th Century Fox works to find another network to pick the show up.
  • “Star” premiered in 2016 starring Queen Latifah and Jude Demorest. The show followed three singers in their quest for stardom and made history as Amiyah Scott became the third openly transgender person to play a trans character in a scripted series.

Fans will certainly miss “Empire” and “Star” back to back on Wednesday nights but there is hope in a revival of “Star” on another network.
