Oklahoma Police Kill Naked 17-Year-Old Boy

Police shot and killed an unarmed, naked 17-year old black high school student in Oklahoma on Monday, April 29.

What We Know…

  • The teenager, Isaiah Lewis, was shot after a woman called 911 because Lewis was allegedly “beating up on” his girlfriend. Shortly after there were reports of a naked man running in the street a few blocks away from the first call.
  • Edmund Police found Lewis breaking into a home. Police claim they were forced to shoot because Lewis fought with police. One officer suffered a head injury and both officers involved are now on paid administrative leave.
  • Lewis was charged with domestic abuse, indecent exposure, obstruction of a police officer and eluding, felony assault of a police officer and first-degree burglary.
  • Lewis’ girlfriend claims she did not want her neighbor to call the police on Lewis as he had not physically abused her. Lewis’ mom has publicly criticized police for trying to “assassinate [her] son’s character.”
  • Police spokesperson Jenny Wagnon said a witness claims Lewis threw drug paraphernalia over the fence of the home he broke into. This has yet to be confirmed by police.
  • Wagnon said a taser was deployed before shots were fired, but it is unclear how many shots were fired. The Edmund Police Department is unsure which officer fired shots or deployed the taser.

Police continue to investigate the story as friends of Lewis struggle to piece the story together for police.  Friends and classmates of Lewis say this behavior is extremely abnormal for him.
