President Donald Trump will not attend the 110th NAACP National Convention in Detroit this weekend.
What We Know:
- Trump stated, “I very much wanted to go, but we had a date. The date got changed and unfortunately, they wanted to do it in the form of a question and answer.”
- Rev. Wendell Anthony, NAACP Detroit Branch President, told Fox 2, “There is a format; every candidate has said that he or she would be glad to participate in,” Anthony stated. He continued, “It’s beyond us as to why that would be of some discomfort for the president.”
- Other prominent politicians including Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker and Stacey Abrams will attend the convention. It is a tradition to invite the current president to the convention regardless of their political affiliation.
- Anthony voiced his disapproval of the President’s decision stating, “We have a right to question our presidents and ask the leader of the free world what our future will be.”
- Trump probably isn’t the best person to speak at this convention. His latest Twitter attack on four congresswomen of color landed him in hot water. Trump tweeted earlier this month that the lawmakers should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”
- He was referring to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna S. Pressley and Rashida Tlaib. Omar is the only one in the group who was born outside of the U.S.
So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly……

….it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

- The Washington Post reported the House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the tweets as racist.
It’s unfortunate that the President is dodging the largest and oldest civil rights organization in the country.
