Media mogul Byron Allen is reportedly preparing a bid to buy the Washington Commanders from Dan Snyder, which would make him the NFL’s first black team owner. Details about the bid, plus deets on forever president Barack Obama addressing rumors that he’s purchasing an NBA team inside…

Byron Allen is looking to make a huge purchase that’ll put him down in the NFL history books.

After trying to buy the Denver Broncos, the media mogul is looking to buy another NFL team. According to Kamaron Leach of Bloomberg, the wealthy businessman, founder, owner, and CEO of Entertainment Studios, also known as the Allen Media Group, is preparing a bid to purchase the Washington Commanders from Dan and Tanya Snyder. He’s reportedly working with an investor group.

The news comes on the heels of Commanders’ owners Dan and Tanya Snyder’s announcement that they have hired Bank of America to consider possible transactions. A spokesperson told 7News the team is looking at all possible options, including a complete sale of the team, or bringing on a minority owner.

If he’s able to land the deal, he’ll become the NFL’s first Black owner.

If he goes through with the bid, it’ll be the second time Byron, made a move towards NFL ownership. Earlier this year, Allen placed a bid on Denver Broncos. He wasn’t among the finalists, and while he’s undeniably rich, an NFL owner has to have mega cash. Like, billionaire status.

According to Forbes, the Commanders are worth an estimated $5.6 billion. Snyder paid $800 million for the team in 1999.

It’s unclear how soon a possible sale could happen, so we shall see.

In 2019, the businessman made headlines when he put up $290 million to purchase 11 small-market television stations from USA Television. The deal adds to his already impressive portfolio, which would bring his investments this year in small- and mid-sized market TV stations to $455 million.

There are rumors circulating that forever president Barack Obama was interested in buying the Phoenix Suns. Now, he’s addressing them.

While on the Democratic campaign trail, President O visited Arizona ahead of the General Election. While speaking to a crowd at Cesar Chavez High School, the former president briefly talked about the NBA rumors. Talk about Obama being interested in the Suns came after owner Robert Sarver announced in September that he would seek buyers for both the Suns and Mercury after he was suspended and fined by the NBA following an investigation into claims of racism and sexual harassment.

”It is good to be back in Arizona,” Obama said. “I wanted to come out here, not only because it’s sunny and warm, but also, you know, there have been these rumors about me and the Phoenix Suns.”

”I didn’t know I was in the market and, by the way, neither did Michelle,” he started. “I will say this – the Suns are looking pretty good, I have to admit that. I think they have a few more wins than my Bulls right now.”
