A Missouri man was fatally shot on Sunday afternoon by 30-year-old Thomas Clement after he tripped over a barbecue and fell into the alleged shooter’s door.
What We Know:
- Police say that 31-year-old Larry Neal Jr. was walking into a St. Louis County apartment complex when he “bumped” into the door where Clement was. Neal was headed up a stairway when Clement came out with a gun and started yelling at him. Neal, who was unarmed, was shot about 11 times.
- Malaysia Worthy, a neighbor in the complex, told WFMY “I kept seeing him gasp for air and he was shot five times, one in the chest, one here and four in his stomach, so six times I think.” Worthy said Neal’s friend tried to do mouth-to-mouth and she tried to do CPR while holding the bullet wounds. Neal later died at a hospital.
- “The two parties were strangers,” St. Louis County Police Sargent Benjamin Granda told PEOPLE Magazine.
- Clement is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Police said in documents they believed Clement to be “a danger to the community due to the nature of the charges.” It’s unclear whether Clement has an attorney.
Clement is being held in the St. Louis County Jail without bail.
