Singer Lizzo says she will file a complaint on a racist security guard at Summerfest in Milwaukee.
What We Know:
- Lizzo was performing on Thursday when she recorded a video of the security guard tackling and attacking members of her team. Lizzo posted a comment about the situation on Twitter, but she later deleted it. The tweet read, “This racist bigot put his hands on my people and used hurtful language while tackling and dragging my team off the festival grounds.”
- According to the Journal Sentinel, Lizzo also tweeted, “They’re keeping me from going over there and having my way with him, but I’m filming this right now just in case I need some evidence and just in case I need to put it on the internet. He needs to be in handcuffs.” Unfortunately, this event ruined a great night and performance for the singer.
- Lizzo made sure she ended the night with love and positivity. She tweeted after the show thanking Summerfest and the fans for a great night. “Tonight was beautiful. You are beautiful. But the struggle ain’t over. Racism and bigotry don’t care if you’re a headliner. Thank you @summerfest. We will be filing a complaint against the bigoted “security” guard and I hope you’ll be cooperative in seeking justice,” she wrote. Despite these kind remarks, she did say she was going to file a complaint.
Lizzo hasn’t said why the situation occurred at this time.
