Pampers will install 5,000 changing tables for public men’s bathrooms across North American by 2021, which they announced Monday, June 10.
What We Know…
- This installation is part of Pampers’ “Love the Change Campaign,” which they launched during this years’ SuperBowl. Singer Adam Levine, John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen have partnered with Pampers for the campaign.
- This campaign is largely in response to a viral photo posted in 2018 by Done Palmer of him squatting in a bathroom to change his son’s diaper. With this post, he founded the #SquatForChange organization that works to help fathers by bridging changing table inequality. Palmer has worked with Pampers on “Love the Change.”
- Pampers will identify high-need public locations for their changing tables throughout the next two years in partnership with Koala Kare, a changing table manufacturer. The first 500 locations have already been identified and public spaces in Cincinnati, Dallas, Philadelphia and Detroit can be expecting new changing tables.
- Pampers has explained that the purpose of the campaign is to “help address the inequality hands-on dads face,” based on research they conducted that revealed nine out of ten dads have gone to public restrooms that do not have changing tables.
- Pampers is encouraging fathers to share videos of them changing their sons under the hashtag “Love the Change,” a few of which are featured on the initial commercial for the campaign released Monday.
- On January 1, 2019, New York City passed a law requiring all new and renovated buildings with public men’s and women’s restrooms have changing tables in them.
All parents deserve a clean, safe space to take care of their baby’s needs.
