The U.S. Women’s soccer team is showing out at the World Cup and we love it!
What We Know:
- The defending champions made history with their first 2019 World Cup match beating Thailand 13-0, setting a new record for most goals scored in a single World Cup match.
- The 13-0 win also set a new record for largest margin of victory in a World Cup match.
- Star forward, Alex Morgan, also tied the record for most goals scored in a single match scoring 5 of the team’s 13 goals.
- “We really just came into this game and really wanted to showcase ourselves and what we’ve been preparing for and what we’ve been working on,” Morgan stated after the match. “I think we did that. Every goal matters in this tournament, and that’s what we were working on this game.”
- The U.S. team is predicted to win this year’s tournament.
