Russell Simmons makes sworn declaration regarding non-consensual sex

Russell Simmons speaks out against and denies the sexual assault allegations.

What We Know:

  • In March 2018, an anonymous woman filed a lawsuit against Simmons. In the lawsuit, the woman explains that she met Simmons while attending a concert. She claims that Simmons invited her back stage and to an after party at a night club. Simmons asked the woman to go with his to his hotel room so that he could get something. While in the room, the woman said he threatened her, pushed her on the bed, and sexually assaulted her.
  • Initially, the woman did not state an exact date for the assault. But the court documents say that it happened in 1988. The lawsuit is for $10 million.
  • In a sworn statement to the court, Simmons spoke out against the allegations. “I am horrified at the false allegations made against me in Complaint. I do not know and I have never heard of Plaintiff. Her allegation that I committed sexual battery and threatened to rape her son is absurd, shameful, and untrue. I have never had non-consensual sex with Plaintiff or anyone else.” Simmons also explained that the woman has pled guilty in the past to prostitution and has file for bankruptcy.
  • Patricia Glaser, Russell Simmons’ lawyer, is petitioning for the court to throw out the case. This is because the two year statute of limitations has expired. “In short, Plaintiff has no corroboration or credibility in what we believe to be an effort to publicly extort Mr. Simmons.”

They are scheduled to go to court on August 15.
