Recently more than 200 individuals have stepped into the spotlight these past few weeks to talk about allegations of sexual assault while participating in Boy Scouts of America.
What We Know:
- While some of these victims are young, some of them have been holding in their personal tragedies for decades.
- Serving as the advisor of the law firm trio working to uncover these pedophiles in organizations like the Mormon Church and Boy Scouts, Attorney Tim Kosnof “has litigated more than a thousand cases of sexual misconduct” against such organizations.
- So far, the group of attorneys has identified 150 alleged pedophiles through their work.
- TV and Google ads paid for by the firms began to play to encourage “victims to sign on as clients for a potential lawsuit after a report in December that Boy Scouts of America prepared for a possible Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.”
- If the bankruptcy filing is approved, it would stop existing and future litigation, which would put a halt on the numerous other cases the Boy Scouts of America already has against them.
- The organization released a statement on the matter, stating that “any incident of child abuse is one too many, and nothing is more important than the safety and protection of children in our Scouting programs” according to USA Today.
- What is most important now is making sure these victims get justice. For example, Kendall Kimber, now 60, was just a child when his leader invited him to his house to learn more about the honor society “Order of the Arrow.” After arriving, the leader forced Kimber to perform oral sex on him.

“He did that while he was talking to his mother on the phone,” Kimber said. “He had nothing about the Boy Scouts or about what I was doing on his mind.”
There are hundreds of stories like Kimber — some are not even publicly known. These acts must stop now to protect these young kids from a lifetime of pain.
