Roc Nation’s Team Roc and Reform Alliance are getting ready to host a job fair for unemployed New Yorkers.
Team Roc New York Job Fair will take place on Nov.18 at Madison Square Garden with a particular focus on helping disadvantaged groups, including the formerly incarcerated and single parents.
“The Team Roc New York Job Fair is a real opportunity for socio-economic mobility for New Yorkers – those who want to work, yet have not had the exposure or connections to the right-fit jobs, or to the support services that can strengthen their prospects for employment,â€ Team Roc managing director Dania Diaz said Wednesday in a press release.Â
“My hope is this event will not only stimulate New York’s economy but pair the state’s best and brightest employees with the country’s leading organizations,” added Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez.
An impressive list of high-profile companies such as Amazon, Live Nation, Zara, Lowe’s, Foot Locker, VICE, Madison Square Garden, and 40/40 Club will be among the employers present to interview candidates at the fair, which aims to help thousands of New Yorkers.
Organizers say Reform Alliance and Roc Nation will also offer job opportunities at the event. Participants will be offered career-development services such as resume building, interview preparation, and tips on how to dress to impress, at no cost. Motivational speakers and celebrity guests are expected to attend although it has yet to be confirmed if JAY-Z will make a cameo.
“It is also a chance for us to work together – public, private, nonprofit sectors – to address the state’s labor shortages in a meaningful way, Diaz said.
Grand opening… Grand closing
As theGrio previously reported, on Tuesday, JAY-Z joined Instagram and followed only one person: his wife, Beyoncé. Mrs. Knowles-Carter returned the favor, making her husband the lone individual she follows on the popular photo-sharing social media site.
However, the 51-year-old rapper deleted his account just one day after joining the popular social media platform. In his first post, Hov shared a movie poster for the Western starring Idris Elba and Regina King. JAY-Z co-produced the project and contributed several songs for the soundtrack.
On his Instagram story, the hip-hop icon posted a countdown for the movie’s Wednesday release on Netflix.
Netflix described The Harder They Fall as a “new school Western, and it serves as the directorial debut of Jeymes Samuel, theGrio previously reported. Co-written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin, the film appears to mix some Hollywood mainstays like Idris Elba and Regina King, with some of the biggest stars in “Young Hollywood, such as Jonathan Majors and LaKeith Stanfield.
The all-Black cast also includes Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, RJ Cyler, and Deon Cole.
“I love to be a part of projects that widen the lens,” Jigga told Entertainment Tonight in October. “Once it’s widened for us, it’s widened for Asians. For Mexicans. For everyone.”
The 23-time Grammy Award-winner created The Harder They Fall in collaboration with producer and director Jeymes Samuel, plus producers Lawrence Bender, G. Mac Brown, and James Lassiter.
“[For years], one of the only things on public television was Westerns, every week, and we weren’t represented in those at all,” JAY-Z told ET. “In fact, our characters were taken from us. The Lone Ranger was based on one of the characters from this film.”
JAY-Z’s IG account gained over 1.6 million followers before the rapper shut it down.
