The upcoming Proud Family reboot will be officially titled The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
What We Know:
- The series will feature the original cast as well as a few newcomers. This includes characters voiced by Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter. The two actors will voice the franchise’s first-ever gay couple together. The character’s names are Randall Leibovitz-Jenkins and Barry Leibovitz-Jenkins.
- The couple will fill the role of adoptive parents to another character, voiced by Keke Palmer. Palmer is set to voice a 14-year-old activist by the name of Maya Leibovitz-Jenkins. Louder and Prouder is set to continue to tell the story of the main character, Penny Proud, played by Kyla Pratt.
- The reboot was officially announced in February. Louder and Prouder is currently in production at Disney Television Animation. As of today, the show is planned to release on Disney+ in 2022. It will be executive produced by Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar. Smith and Farquhar led the original series as well. Additionally, Calvin Brown Jr. will serve as executive producer and story editor for Louder and Prouder.
Proud Family originally ran for two seasons between 2001 and 2005 before ending with a television movie. It was nominated for several awards throughout its run. The original series is currently available to stream on Disney+.
