The popular trivia show “Jeopardy!” announced its final slate of guest hosts for Season 37 as executives continue their search for a permanent host.
What We Know:
- The roster of temporary hosts was announced last Wednesday. Fans of Levar Burton congratulated the “Roots” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” star for securing a spot to potentially replace longtime host Alex Trebek, who died last year after suffering from pancreatic cancer.
- The gig will last one week until the show determines a permanent host. Other temporary hosts include “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” anchor George Stephanopoulos, author and former “Jeopardy! Celebrity” champion David Faber and award-winning sportscaster Joe Buck.
- Executive producer Mike Richards wants to make sure they have the right host for the job.
“Our goal has been to present a wide variety of guest hosts with different skill sets and backgrounds on our path to finding a permanent host. Our passionate fans are telling us what they like, and we are listening,” he told reporters.
- In November of 2020, fans of Burton even created a campaign to have the “Reading Rainbow” host become a permanent replacement for the game show. The petition was started on Change.org and gained over 250,000 signatures, including Levar Burtons!
Burton is scheduled to host from July 26th to July 30th, 2021.
