Latino Man Handcuffed For Two Hours After Escaping Atlanta Spa Shooting As Wife Died Inside

A Latino man was detained as a result of suspicion towards the individual on a shooting he didn’t commit.

What We Know:

  • On Tuesday in Georgia, several spas were targeted by Robert Aaron Long, 21, where he killed multiple people. Reports note that Long started his spree of attacks at 5 pm and later went on to kill others at Goldspa and Aromatherapy spa. Mario Gonzalez’s wife, DelaIina Ashley Yaun, was killed in this string of shootings that targeted Asian massage parlors. The incident occurred at Young’s Asian Massage.

  • According to reports, Gonzalez and his wife were supposed to enjoy a spa day and unwind. Unfortunately, their spa day was put to a halt due to the terroristic attack carried out by Long that Tuesday. Mario Gonzalez was in a different area than his wife during the shooting and managed to escape, but he lost his wife and was handcuffed by authorities shortly after. Reports note that police did this as a precautionary measure because they didn’t know who committed the shooting.
  • Gonzalez was very upset about being handcuffed because he felt he was being arrested for something he didn’t do. “He was placed in handcuffs for two hours because they thought it might be him,” said Jessica, Gonzalez’s niece. His niece also mentioned that while Gonzalez was handcuffed, any questions about his wife were ignored.
  • Gonzalez made claims that he will have a hard time raising his eight-month-old girl and keeping his job. “He left me with an eight-month-year-old baby… what am I going to do?” Gonzalez told reporters that he thought it was unfair that he was arrested while Long was free to go. “It’s not fair for a man like that to kill her and go free after a while.”

Robert Aaron Lang has since then been arrested, and investigators have tied his sex addiction into the reasoning behind the shooting he committed.
